Doris Banham on the TV & in the paper
Recentley a TV crew from the program Inside Out filmed the rescue in action. The dogs were filmed being picked up from the pound and taken into the boarding kennels. Our volunteers did a fantastic job highlighting the pound dogs plight. The program will go out around Christmas time.. This is fantastic news for our rescue. Hopefully the general public who are mainley unaware of what goes on with picked up dogs will be as discusted as we are and spread the word further.
Doris Banham(DBRD) has also been in the papers in Huddersfield click on the link below to go through to the papers online version. Please be aware however that the paper got the figures all wrong about dogs being put to sleep. A formal apology will be going out in the paper.
Rescue & rehoming is not all we do.
We often pay medical expenses for dogs in pounds that otherwise would be put to sleep just because of vet bill costs. Sometimes we don't even take these dogs for rehoming, other rescues will. When this happens we get no help with funding so these dogs totaly rely on donations for medications before they even have a chance of being taken by other rescues or rehomed.
All of the following dogs were rescued from being PTS in pounds and had medical probems so no-one would help them:-
This is a little slide show of some of our voluneteers being filmed by the BBC InsideOut filming crew.
This part of the filming was the dogs being picked up from the pound and taken to one of the boarding kennels.

We often pay for medical treatment for pound dogs. Its easier & makes more money sense for pounds to put these dogs to sleep, but we won't let this happen.
