  1. I have been given permission by Tesco to hold a one day collection outside a Tesco branch. If anyone lives in London, I would welcome help. At present there are only a couple of us and it would be good to cover the complete day. The branch is at -

Leyton High Road, 825 High Road, London E10 7AA The date is 4th September this year.

  2. Hi, I have been helping Dog SOS for a while through a friend of mine, but after seeing Panorama the other night, I just felt compelled to help even more, as you are doing such a fantastic job and really do deserve all the support in the world. Thank God there are some of us who care so deeply for these poor souls, who are helpless without us, and destroyed simply because they are surplus to requirements. Keep up the great work Dog SOS, we are all behind you, I, for one, will be doing everything I can to help you.

    Love

    Michelle

  3. i just wanted to stop by and say what a brilliant organisation and how well set out the website is, its an awful shame that there are so many dogs that need homes, i cant believe that these dogs are being rescued from dog pounds and are so skinny, arent they feeding them at all? id love to become a volounteer at a brancch near me, perhaps even adopt a dog, i have 2 of my own, both crosses, aswell as 5 cats, i love animals and ive been looking out for somthing small but i dont want to buy a purpose bred dog. id have all the stray animals in the world if i had a house and garden big enough, some people just dont take into consideration the homeless animals whilst they are breeding there pets. hopefully i plan to volounteer at a shelter, i have plenty of time in the day and to be honest i prefer animals to humans. well done everyone

  4. Hi,

I wondered if you could use this - a while ago someone was looking for a leaflet with all the reasons why breeding your staffy is not a good idea - we looked, and there wasn't - so I have put one together!

It can be downloaded from here:

    www.sbtinfo.weebly.com

It's black and white so cheap and fast to print off, and it covers the cost and medical risks of breeding, the difficulties of selling pups, the amount of Stafies being put to sleep, and the benefits of speying and neutering.

I am going to print some off and distribute them to places where young families go locally - GP surgeries, local sure start, etc as in my experience of working with kids and teenagers it is very often struggling families with small kids who think breeding the dog may be an income booster. I will also get some out to the youth centres, to target the young lads.

I know there are plenty of people who will ignore it, but for some who are undecided it may just make a difference - and if it saves one litter being born then that's a result as far as I am concerned!

I wondered if it might be something you could use or distribute? Please feel free to pass the link on to anyone who you think may be interested,

    thanks

    Sonya

  5. Thank God for you people...I am also a rescuer, and I am travelling over 6000 miles in Sept, to the Far East, as a volunteer worker, rescuing dogs from the meat trade..I am posting your website to my Facebook, as I have 1000s of subscribers to my channel, so hopefully they will donate to your charity..Keep up the good work & bless you all

  6. Just made contact with Denise Bennett through Twitter regarding your organisation. Looking forward to hpoefully helping out. Telling us about the terrible surge on at the moment with finding homes.

  7. Hi, I was left heartbroken after watching Panorama the other evening; What happened to the Britain that was an animal loving country? I just thank God that your organisation exists and is able to help, God bless you all. I hope the donation helps some. We owe it to these dogs to do as much as we possibly can. Best wishes to all who are helping with this crusade. Love Jane.

  8. Hi Ben

    Thank you for your comments.

Rest assured none of our dogs are kept in cages. All are kept in large spacious kennels- have full interaction and are exersized probably more than some peoples pets. We have a HUGE problem with dogs being euthanised thats why we do this. we are a non destruct rescue and every life is precious.

The more foster people onboard the more dogs we can put into foster it really is that simple.

    Regards Karen- Admin

  9. Just seen Panorama.

I hope this charity puts the dogs it rescues from death into temporary foster homes where the dogs are sufficiently exercised daily so that they have a worthwhile quality of life, otherwise the moral thing would be to not intervene and just euthanise them.

I dont want to see dogs being "saved" from a completely painless death only to just be stuck in a cage. Thats torture. Thats much worse

Any group that does such practices should reconsider how they could serve animals in better ways with their money, even though they think they are doing something admirable

Anyway I have no idea about the conditions the saved dogs go into with Doris Banham, so my comments do not apply perhaps.

If the dogs get plenty of exercise, space and socialisation then good - though I have no problem with painlessly euthanising dogs with overdose of anaesthetic either.

The worst thing about the situation is the lives of the dogs beforehand-what has lead them to be abandoned in the first place, what have their lives been like.

Heartbreaking how society treats nonhuman animals, and I commend anybody who works selflessly to help others in need

  10. Just seen Panorama, too. Disgraceful respect for dogs. Thanks for your work.Have always had rescue animals and mine are loved from beginning to the end. God Bless You (and your PRECIOUS ones)

  11. What a wonderful charity and an amazing thing you are doing.... i have just watched the panarama and seen the great work you do - in return i have set up standing order for £10 per month you really do deserve for all you do for these poor dogs!!

    Great work!!!

  13. Hello this is sue i was wondering if i fostered a dog from you would it be able to be in bury st edmunds i wouldent mind if you came to see our house if it is dog proof thanksxx

  14. I always adopt a dog from a rescue place and love them everyday of their lives.. I choose the old and the sick so I can never have them for long before I have to help my beloved dogs go to their eternal sleep...but they always go being cuddled by me, at home and with the help of a wonderful and caring vet....I have lost 2 beautiful dogs since November..Kim was 14 years old and Rosie was 16 years old .... I had only had Rosie for 7 weeks when she had a massive stroke and I had to call the vet out...but she had 7 weeks of love and I have 7 weeks of beautuful memories to look back on...it costs me quite a lot of money buying old or poorly dogs...and it breaks my heart every time I lose one...I always think I will go for a younger of fit dog next time...but I never do and I wouldn't change a thing...All dogs are special, all dogs need a loving home..they give so much love and loyalty in return, it is priceless.

The other day I heard from a friend of mine. that lives in another town from me.....she had been at her vet's with her dog for its injections and someone brought in a poor dog that had been tied up and left at a railway station...it was starving, dehydrated and in a terrible state...the vet didn't really want to know and as my friend had dogs of her own couldn't take the poor dog in herself....she was frantic and rang round several dog rescue places...non of them could help.....I had found this site a few days previously (I'm always looking at dog rescue sites)...I sent her the link to here and she got in contact....The little dog had been taken to the pound but someone from here called Chris emailed my friend and also telephoned her to say that this dog rescue place would do all it could to help that little dog....she is so grateful and so am I....thanks to this wonderful recue place that poor little dog will now have love and comfort and fingers crossed will soon have a loving home...

I already send money to loads of animal charities...but will definitely add this one to my list now...It is a really wonderful site and what a lovely thing as a memorial for Doris Banham...she must have been a very special lady.....thank you to everyone who works so hard to save these poor dogs and bring happiness and love into their lives....

I cannot send a lot of money but will send what I can and if everyone who looks at this fantastic sight even just sends a small amount of money it will help ... and maybe even save a dog's life.

  15. Hi, just posting a message about our Dennis! Well, what a fantastic dog!!! I'm so lucky to have him. I can only thank everyone involved in the rescue and follow up, of this amazing dog. He sleeps in the bedroom with me, his basket is in the corner. Day 1, morning one, yep he's on the bed with me. Boot off dog. Go back to sleep. Wake up, paw in face "whatsssitt????" yep DENNIS!! FEED ME (he has this strange look on his chops when he wants food) so up I get, waking up my other Lurcher in the process, and we all troop into the kitchen. Fered dogs, give dogs tablets GO BACK TO BED??? Nope, play time, and on and on.

    What a dog.

  17. I lost my Bessie last Week, i had to make the decision to help her 'pass over', we made sure she was in the comfort of her own Home so we arranged for the Vet & nurse to come to her.

She was my life, we had a very strong bond, Bess lived to a good age of 15yrs....born with a slight disability in her right-side rear leg, that never deterred her from enjoying herself & being very inquisitive and mischeivous too at times which just enhanced her personality!

She will live on in my heart always.

I took her goodies, several beds (some new) etc into Doris Banham's shop today 10.02.10 as i felt Bess would want to share them, as she too was a Rescue Dog (though i cant quite remember where from as someone else had driven me there that day in Feb. 2006 she was just 12wks old...din't plan on getting a puppy....but she was adorable!! Anyway I'm really pleased such excellent work is going on by so many generous, warm, loving and devoted people....just amazing!!!! Well Done!!!!!!!

  18. I am so pleased on visiting the site to see so many dogs have been rehomed, although I know there are many more waiting for a 'forever home'. I sent bags of bedding ect to your appeal at thw Arncliffe Vets in Wath as my sister (head nurse) brought your need to our attention, I look every other day on the site as we are looking to rehome a small bitch to go with our collie cross I rescued 4 yrs ago company. If you have any small bitches that are not on site could you please email me. I am closest to Jeanettes kennels xx Keep up the great work

  19. I am pleased to say I have rehomed a gorgeous little girl called Cassie (Casper) and she is a delight. She has brought another light into our world and considering all that she may have been through she is better behaved than some so called trained pets. She plays with our big lad confidently and will challenge with toys to play. Thanks to Sheila and Tony who had the pleasure of her company and looking after her so well. She has a home for life and will be loved as much as she will allow us to give.

  20. Hi, I came across your site by chance, and it is heartbreaking to see so many gorgeous boys and girls that have been abandoned. It makes me feel sad because my two boys are my life, an cannot imagine life without them. We are are looking to rehome a female to equal things out ! After checking site, you are to be commended for rescuing these beautiful boys and girls and tireless devotion to finding them new and suitable homes. Keep up the good work.

  21. came across your site by chance really, have just lost my little Tara, she was 16yrs and a poppet we got her from Roden dogs trust only 20 mths ago and miss her dearly. I would like to thank people like you for the dedication you show to these dogs I cannot believe how people can throw away such beautiful loving animals, they should be ashamed of themselves and if I had the power I would show them the inhumane consequenses of their actions. I have 3 other rescue dogs (all old 14 13 12 each have bad hearts and one is blind (this does not stop her raiding the cupboard!) I love them to bits and cannot understand how they were not wanted anymore, they are loyal funny and loving. I love keira the Bull Mastiff I think she is a total sweetie, If I was closer I would consider her as a companion. I really hope that all your beautiful dogs find their forever homes a.s.a.p as they deserve the chance of love and cuddles. Have a good New Year and carry with the good work.

  22. Hi Darren, I have deleted your comments as they are without any substance. Please email any complaints to theteam@dogsos.co.uk and we will deal with any issue you feel need to be bought to our attention. Thank you,

  23. I can't keep pace with the opening of these shops, it only seems like a month ago that the first shop opened!! We are planning to get up to Lincoln next month with our usual Christmas delivery - Nat/Karen if you could email/facebook me to let me know which weekend is best for you (not remembrance w/e though). We will bring the Ginger Ninja - Nat you will not believe the change in him since you last met him. He's still mental but a fine looking fella and going from strength to strength but unfortunately still has a penchant for chewing car seatbelts....... Look forward to seeing you in the next few weeks. W & D & A

  24. just wanted to say hello to all u guys and see that you are all still doing a fantastic job,as i know myself what a hard and heart breaking job it can be.,i wish myself personally i could have done a lot more ,but i was limited to what i could do as u know,i am now in a position to offer my help in any way i can.,as i no longer work for the kennels,by being made redundant ,so any way hope ur all well and i wish u all all the best xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  25. WoW i just came acroos your website and the work you are doing is amazing well done!!! i'm heartbroken of all the dogs you have for rehoming are gorgeous!! :( ESPECIALLY DIGBY!! beautiful dog fallen in love with him he's a cutie :P but i cant have him :( Parents wont let me :( I hope all the Dogs find Fabu homes ones hat are going to Care and Love them!! :D x

  26. I would just like to say how impressed i am with all your work your all doing if the world was full of people like yourselves it would be a whole lot better for our animals to live in at the end of the day all they ask for is LOVE CARE ATTENTION i mean come on its not much to ask for is it we want that for ourselves and expect it so why shouldnt they get it to i have four dogs of my own and theyre rescued in 1 way or another, come on all you supposedly animal lovers click on these web sites and foster or adopt a dog.

  27. My little brindle staffy named Roscoe is one of the success stories for this organisation. He is such a perfect little dog, and it breaks my heart to think of the suffering he had endured. I encourage everyone to foster/ adopt or help in any way. My little pup is so friendly and affectionate - he is a wonderful pet and a true friend. My husband and I are so honoured to be his guardians. He has brought more laughter and love into our home. And it's all thanks to the hard work and dedication of this organisation. Thank you.

  28. I have just come across this site & I cannot believe how many beautiful dogs there are on here especially Staffies,It brings tears to my eyes to think how cruel some humans some be to such beautiful creatures. I have a 13 year old staffie from Battersea Iv'e had him 5 years now, & he really is the most dopest submissive staffie you'll find, he's scared of cats & his own shadow, Sadly he has a oversized spleen now he was diagnosed last July although not life threatening it has made him weighty but the vet will not remove it as there is no tumor & the operation is very intense,he has also slowed down in himself & is just like a little old man now, infact he dictates to me. I don't know how much longer I will have my little boy but if & when the time comes I will be sure to adopt a dog from this site, he's my 3rd rescue staffie from Battersea, Iv';e fallen in love with Eddie the tri coloured staffie, he seems the same nature as my Dudley, i would love to have a companion for Dudley but he's so set in his ways now. I admire the work you do on this site & I wish you well to find a loving home for each & every one of your doggies , even if they havn't had the best start in life I'm sure now finding homes for them will let them have the happiness they deserve.

    Kind regards

    Yvonne

  29. Congratulations on all the good work you are doing.

From all of us at: www.maps4pets.com

  30. Well done for all the marvellous work that you do helping these dogs. Without people like you they would stnad no chance at all.I hope that the auction brings in lots of much needed funds.

    Helen

  31. I only heard about your charity yesterday, but as I was concerned to hear about your financial problems. It is important that we have people like you who care about these animals enough to do something about it. I am not in a position to help with money at the moment, but I have written a small piece up on my blog to raise awareness of your plight. I hope you dont mind, if you have time drop by for a read of it, and do let me know if its ok, if not I will remove it.

  32. Sorry to hear that things have got so desperate - hope that you will survive to carry on this very vital work, Best wihes to you all !

  33. Living in Lincoln I was desperately sad to read of your critical financial situation (firstly on the Bullies in Need forum (I own a bull terrier)) - I have just sent £50 via paypal - I do hope people will rally round and support you because you do such wonderful work that I hate to think what will happen if you have to close - let's hope the credit crunch situation will also ease and give people more money in their pockets xx Good Luck x

  34. I would love to say thanku on behalf of all those people and animals that you have put together. Without work like yours lost dogs and strays would simply die. Your mum started a great tradition and she'll be proud your keeping it going. Your amazing people and I can't wait to re-home a dog from you just as my mum and bro in law have done! Keep up the great work and again thanku.

  35. You are all truly wonderful people.

  36. So sorry! Meant to say the world would indeed be a poorer place WITHOUT you!!

    Apologies!

  37. Just been looking at your site, and wanted to congratulate you all on the wonderful work that you do.

Without organisations such as yours, so many more animals would be left to suffer. The world would indeed be a poorer place with you.

  38. You guys do such fantastic work - I know how demanding are hard rescue can be. I am still very disturbed art the amount of unwanted Staffies and their crosses that are looking for homes - even those ones 7 years plus.

I am the proud owner of 2 rescue staffies and could not ask for more love from a dog. The majority are wonderful family pets and are so misunderstood.

Well done to you all for saving so many of them from a terrible fate.

Please, please has someone have that special place for Tye?

  39. well done to everyone from the voulnteers to the people that donate....everyone who helps! Its charities like this that deserve lottery and government funding but they dont seem to care so a big thank you to the ones that do,keep up the good and hard work!!!!!

  40. Hello,

Thanks again and this site was a great help.

  41. Fantastic job everyone!!! Love the forum. Keep up the good work xxx
  42. Thank god that people like you all exist !!! without it i would worry even more about our beautifull faithfull friends. I wish you all the luck in the world you should be proud of yourself
